The Mary’s Restaurant Story
From weddings and anniversaries to graduations and corporate events, some occasions make memories that last a lifetime. Located in downtown greenville’s falls park, Mary’s at Falls Cottage provides a charming and casually elegant setting for your special event that’s sure to leave a lasting impression on you and your guests. Situated in a peaceful garden on the Reedy River, Mary’s is truly one of Greenville’s most spectacular settings.
We’re blessed to have a wonderful location, but it’s our kitchen that’s really the heart and soul of our business. Both our catering kitchen and our restaurant offer an eclectic and contemporary southern menu based on seasonally fresh, often local, ingredients.
Our Humble Beginning
Owner Mary Jones fulfilled a lifelong dream when she started her catering business out of her home in 1995. Today, she runs a full-service commercial catering kitchen that serves a long list of corporate and private customers in virtually every corner of the city. From events big and small, hosted at our location or yours, Mary and her staff take special pride in attending to every detail of your event so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
Our Place in Greenville’s History
The two story stucco covered brick house overlooking the Reedy River falls was built by W.E. Touchstone in 1894 and 1896. It was located in the “West End”, a rapidly growing residential and commercial area across the river from Greenville’s earliest development. Used as a rental property for about 20 years, by 1918 when the West End was fast becoming the city’s first “motor mile”, the house become Curry’s Gasoline Station. In 1972, the Carolina Foothills Garden Club acquired the property, renovated it and named it Falls Cottage. Since then, the Cottage has served as the home of the Metropolitan Arts Council, Greenville Artists Guild Gallery, Tours Around Greenville and the office for fundraising for the Peace Center for the Performing Arts.
Now a protected landmark on the Historic Register, Fall’s Cottage has been the proud home of Mary’s Restaurant since 2004.
